Wherever we look during these challenging Covid times, there are ideas about how to cope. From Facebook and Instagram, to breakfast television and YouTube, there’s heaps of advice and helpful hints on how to continue some version of normal family life. But while all that information is important, it doesn’t necessarily provide us with practical strategies to help us to meet one of our most basic needs right now: As parents and caregivers, we need to know how to manage our own stress, fears and anxieties first. After all, if we can’t manage our own emotions and behaviours during this time, how can we even begin to manage those of our children?
